A senior royal source said that Kate was “keen to show her support to the UK’s sportsmen and women at this prestigious event which caps a momentous year for British sport” and did so impeccably presenting two awards – the Lifetime Achievement Award to Chairman of the British Olympic Association to Sebastian Coe and the Sports Personality of the Year award to Olympic cyclist Bradley Wiggins – and spent the evening chatting and congratulating Jessica Ennis and David Beckham.
