Rosanna Davison confirmed her mum was diagnosed with blood cancer

Former Miss Ireland Rosanna Davison has bravely spoken out about her mother’s cancer diagnosis.

The mum-of-three has confirmed that her mother Diane was diagnosed with blood cancer in 2023, but she is now in remission.

Speaking about the day they found out the news, Rosanna said it was a huge shock for all of them.

She told the Irish Sun:

“It was a big shock and a big cry. She’s the healthiest person in the world. Really health conscious. It just goes to show it can happen no matter how healthy your lifestyle is.”

Rosanna added, “It takes no prisoners. It can happen to anyone.”

Rosanna said her mum is now “living her best life.”

Her mother has even been able to travel with Rosanna’s father, Chris de Burgh, who was recently performing in Australia.

She added, “She’s great. She was able to travel with my dad. She’s in complete remission now from cancer.

“She’s absolutely living her best life. Which is amazing to see. She had a rough couple of years.”

Rosanna explained that she’s sharing her mother’s story in a bid to raise awareness. She wants to prove how important routine health checks like annual blood tests are.

“I think she’s just such a great success story. Of a cancer survivor. She fought it early because of a routine check.

“I think the message, the reason why I spoke about it, I guess, is because of the importance of routine checks, checking your blood.”
