Boyzone star Ronan Keating finally feels better about being single after what he says was a “scary” couple of years.

The singer split with his wife Yvonne last year when it emerged that the star had an affair with dancer Francine Cornell.

It was reported last week that Yvonne has already moved on with a new man but Ronan is happy to be single for now.

According to Manchester’s Key 103 radio, the singer said: “I’m not dating anyone. I’m doing really great, really well. It’s been a scary couple of years. There’s been big changes in my life.”

“Never say never [to dating again]. You take each day as it comes and keep moving. I’m concentrating on the album and promoting that at the moment,” he said.

The Dublin singer, who has three children with wife Yvonne, said that the painful break up inspired the songs in his latest album Fires.

“You need to draw on something. Part of the reason I couldn’t make an album for four or five years was I was in a negative place.

“But the last year is good. I’m back on my feet. This album is quite a positive album.”

The Life is a Rollercoaster singer said he hopes to rejoin Boyzone to mark their 20th anniversary.

Ronan also said Irish hunk Colin Farrell was fortunate not to have joined Boyzone. The Total Recall star auditioned for the band but was scrapped because he could not sing.

“He stood in front of me. He had a red bandana on his head and he looked cool. He’s a cool-looking lad.

“But look at his career, I think he did better than any of us.

“I remember looking at him and thinking, ‘Ah man, he’s in. He’s definitely and he’s definitely in’.”
