TV legend Rolf Harris was reportedly arrested by detectives connected to the Jimmy Savile investigations. Police had stated they had arrested an 82-year-old man but had not released the identity of the household name.

Despite the fact that media had been camped outside his house and social media went into rumour mill overdrive, Harris’ lawyers and agents did not make any comments about the claims. One of the popular presenter’s programmes, Rolf’s Animal Clinic still went to air, even though the presenter had apparently been arrested only weeks before.

According to the Sun, Harris’ house was first raided on November 24, 2012 and then brought in for questioning on November 29. Reports claim the allegations are not connected to the Jimmy Savile enquiry.

Police have refused to give any details of the allegations but a spokesman from Scotland Yard stated: “An 82-year-old man from Berkshire was arrested by officers on Operation Yewtree on suspicion of sexual offences. He has been bailed to a date in May pending further enquiries. The individual falls under the strand of the investigation we have termed ‘others’.”

However, police have refused to confirm that Harris is the man that has been arrested. It is understood that Harris has vehemently denied any wrongdoing.

The Savile case has led the police to question a number of high profile celebrities including Max Clifford, Freddie Starr and Jim Davidson.
