When asked what it was like to be a father of six, De Niro said: “Seven actually. I just had a baby.”
Robert De Niro has confirmed that he secretly welcomed his seventh child in recent months.
The ‘Meet the Fockers’ star revealed the bombshell news earlier this week during an interview for the release of his upcoming film, ‘About My Father’.
The Oscar winning actor, 79, was asked by a reporter from ET Canada what it was like to be a father of six.
He quickly corrected the reporter and said: “Seven actually. I just had a baby.”
Despite dropping the news, he did not reveal the baby’s gender or name and kept the identity of their mother a secret.
De Niro let it all out while being interviewed about his new movie.
He went on to say that he believes “in being loving with [his] kids,” even though sometimes he has “to be stern about stuff”.
“I mean, there’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that,” he explained.
He said sometimes parents don’t have a choice in the matter and believes any parent “would say the same thing”.
“You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can’t,” he concluded.
