This is the reason why you didn’t see Ariana Grande at the Emmys last night

Ariana Grande has decided to take a break for the Hollywood spotlight.

The star alongside her significant other, Pete Davidson, decided to opt not to attend the awards show on Monday night in the Microsoft Theater, Los Angeles. Pete Davidson's SNL was up for multiple awards and the show ended up winning big on the night however, the pair decided to keep out of the spotlight, staying at home in New York. A spokesperson for the Dangerous Woman star spoke to PEOPLE saying:

“Contrary to reports, Ariana will not be attending the Emmys tonight. Pete has also opted to not attend to be with her in New York. "Given the events of the past couple of years, Ariana is going to take some much needed time to heal and mend. She will be staying close to home and using this period to spend time with her loved ones and work on new music without a deadline. She thanks her fans for their understanding.”

This news comes 10 days after Ariana Grande's ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller died of a suspected overdose. Ariana shared an emotional video of the rapper saying: "I'm so mad, I’m so sad i don’t know what to do. you were my dearest friend. for so long. above anything else. I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away." This tragic event comes 16 months after another devastating tragedy for the star, when a terrorist attack occured at her concert in Manchester killing 22 people and injuring 500 more. The star is still reported to be suffering from anxiety and PTSB since the horrific event and so, is now taking a well-needed break from the spotlight.
