For once, Punk’d presenter Ashton Kutcher has found himself at the receiving end of a prank when someone called the authorities claiming there were armed intruders in his Hollywood Hills home.

According to reports police received a teletext message yesterday morning that claimed that three armed intruders had made their way into the house and shots had been fired. The person also said they were hiding in the bathroom at the property.

Ashton is usually the one doing the pranks on other people.

A SWAT team arrived at the residence and detained three people but after further investigation it was declared as a hoax.

An officer confirmed to website TMZ that the call was not authentic, that those detained actually worked at the property and that, “There’s no problem at the residence.”

Ashton also tweeted that he was “safe an sound [sic]” from the set of television series Two and a Half Men. He was not at home during the time of the incident.

The actor tweeted a pic from the set after events unfolded at his home.

With thousands of dollars already spent on the investigation authorities will now look for the culprit who, if found, will be charged with the criminal offence known as ‘swatting’ whereby someone makes up a false claim about a serious crime.
