A bride from Limavady had her Hollywood ending, when actress Sarah Jessica Parker turned up at her wedding.
Beautiful bride Máire O’Flynn was celebrating her nuptials at the Lough Eske Castle Hotel in Donegal when Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick turned up for a meal with friends.
The Sex and the City star took the time to pose for a photograph with the bride, taking the time to compliment her on her dress and wishing her the best for the future.
The bride told BBC News how she was initially against approaching the actress for a photograph, but was convinved by friends and family:
“I was very hesitant to approach her because I didn’t want to disturb her on her holiday and at a private dinner. But a few of the other guests thought it would be a missed opportunity if I didn’t get a photo on my big day with such an iconic celebrity.
“My brother Sean went in and asked would it be okay and she said no problem, we’ll just finish our coffee and conversation and, once we’re ready to leave, we’ll come and get you.”
True to her word, the star sent staff to get the bride from her dance floor, and as she was leaving, the actress and Máire got a snap on her special day. Máire was taken aback by how sweet the actress was, and her kind words:
“She said that I looked beautiful and hoped that I was having a great day. “She also mentioned that my bridesmaid looked fabulous, which was great. It was a nice addition to the day and added a bit of celebrity status to the occasion.”
Sarah Jessica Parker, best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, is a Donegal regular, owning a holiday home in Kilcar.
