For Grace Merkel, seeing Taylor Swift in concert was meant to be a dream-come-true, but instead the event turned into a nightmare.
Grace, 7, was on her way with her family to the see the singer at her show in Columbia, Missouri when she was struck by a speeding motorist.
The young girl was severely injured. It was revealed by People Magazine, that the driver was uninsured.
Grace spent two days at Children’s Mercy Hospital for two skull fractures, a slight left orbital fracture, head lacerations, concussion and a rash over her face and body.
According to her parents, Grace has been incredibly positive throughout her recovery.
The strong little girl managed to make it to Swift’s Nashville performance on September 21st.
But this time her dream became a reality.
Swift surprised the family with a backstage invite before she performed.

"Taylor greeted Grace by her name and immediately knelt down and hugged her," Grace’s mom Amy Markel told PEOPLE.
"She told Grace she had a cold and asked Grace to sing extra loud to help her out."
According to Amy, "Taylor's mother told Grace she was so sorry about what happened to her, and she gave me a hug saying she sympathized with what we'd been through. It was so surreal and amazing."
Grace, though nervous about the meeting said that Swift was even more "nice and tall and pretty" than she expected.
"[The meeting] was just a warm and genuine exchange that made it feel like time has stopped, and it was just the two of them," Amy says.
"It's so hard to reconcile what we witnessed at the time of the accident with her amazing recovery," Grace's mother says. "We feel so very lucky and blessed."
