An image from Cory Monteith’s final role on film has been released.

It’s been a month since the actor was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room and this final film is seen to be somewhat reflective of his real-life character.

In McCanick, the late Glee star plays a drug-addicted criminal who’s sent to prison for murder and the film’s director has said that actor said that he was able to play the role because of his past.

“He opened up quite a bit,” its director Josh C. Waller told People Magazine.

“He was like, ‘I can do this character. I know this character. I was this character. I have lived elements of this.’ He said, ‘I was a troubled youth.’”

The film is set to make its debut at the Toronto Film Festival in September.

The Glee cast, including Monteith’s girlfriend, Lea Michele, are currently preparing to shoot a tribute episode for the actor.
