Paul Mescal is over the internet
Irish actor Paul Mescal has opened up about why he is quitting social media.
We can all agree that spending too much time online has a detrimental impact on our mental health, and being famous doesn’t protect you from that.
In a new interview, Mescal explained that social media is not healthy for him.
He explained to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad podcast that there’s too much of him on his feed.
He said he’s tired of reading about himself online and would take “anything else other than me.”
Mescal shared: “I’ve got to quit the internet. It’s like too much. It’s too much of yourself. There’s not enough bakeries, and there’s too much of me.”
He had previously opened up about the invasion of his personal life since becoming a household name.
Mescal said people have no right to know about his private life but that doesn’t stop rumours from spreading.
He told Harper’s Bazaar: “The stuff that hurts is the personal stuff,” he said. “It’s nobody else’s business and should never be commented on because it’s indecent.
“And it’s unkind. Honest answer, it makes me angry . . . It’s the entitlement to the information that people expect that just drives me f*cking mad,” he admitted.
Mescal has kept a low profile online since his breakout role in Normal People.
He no longer uses Twitter and only shares updates on his personal Instagram page.
