Oops! Liam Payne ‘forgets’ the lyrics to his solo songs during BBC show

Fans still joined in on the song.

Oh dear.

Liam Payne suffered a slight mishap when he appeared to blank on the words to his own songs during a recent appearance on a BBC One music show.

The 24-year-old was on Sounds Like Friday Night this weekend, where he joined regular presenters Greg James and Dotty for a variety of sketches.

One segment involved Liam putting on a fancy dress outfit and trying to convince members of the public he was a removal man – rather than a global popstar.

The short clip involved Liam singing a few of his hits – both past and present ones – to people in an elevator to see if they recognised him.

The singer had no issues when it came to remembering the lyrics of One Direction tunes, but stumbled a bit during a rendition of Strip That Down.

Fans were delighted once they copped who they were in the elevator with, despite Liam’s best attempts at denying his identity.

Some of the people even joined in on the sing-a-long, belting out One Direction and Liam’s hits.

It comes as the 24-year-old admitted the real reason behind his awkward X Factor exit last weekend.

The One Direction hitmaker returned to the stage at the live shows last Saturday night, where he stole the show – but for all the wrong reasons.

Following the end of his performance, he circled behind host Dermot O’Leary and appeared to dart off stage and into the crowd to see Cheryl – before the pair made a hasty exit.

But the new dad insists that he was “told to go that way” by producers, as he cleared things up at the Pride of Britain awards.

He said to the Mirror:

“Producers told me to go this way and it looked like I was going out the front, bossed off the stage and took my missus and buggered off.

“But that’s what I got told to do and I got so much stick for it.

“It was hilarious, storming off the stage and taking my missus.”
