One Direction seemed to be keen to dispel speculation that there is some animosity between them and their former bandmate Zayn Malik.
On Sunday night the remaining lads collected the award for Top Duo/Group at the Billboard Music Awards and, as well as thanking the fans, they made sure to give Zayn a shout-out.
Liam Payne said: “This one is for the fans but there’s one more person to share this with and that’s our brother Zayn.”
During their first television interview as a four-piece last week, they admitted that they were “a little bit angry” when Zayn broke the news that he was leaving.
