The band was reportedly invited to honour Liam Payne at this year's awards show in London.
However, they believe it would not be the right way to pay tribute to the late singer.
The band, who went their separate ways in 2016, reconnected following Liam's untimely passing in 2024.
According to The Sun, the band believed reuniting would take away from Liam's tragic passing and put the spotlight back on One Direction.
An insider told the publication:
"It has been a really emotional time for the lads and it was decided it would just be too much.
"They have grieved in private and don’t feel the need to do a big, showy tribute for the sake of it.
"Millions of fans will be disappointed not to see them back on stage together but the time is just not right," they added.
The band reconnected through such harrowing circumstances so reuniting to perform is not a priority for them.
"Apart from anything else, Zayn lives in America now and they are all at different places in life. A One Direction reunion is not on the cards at all."
Liam Payne passed away after falling from the balcony of a hotel in Argentina in October 2024.
Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, and Louis Tomlinson all paid tribute to their bandmate and friend at his funeral in November.
This year's BRIT awards are due to take place on March 1st.
Insiders believe the band won't attend or perform at the event and want to continue to grieve in private.
