One Direction’s Niall’s fans have such a powerful crush on the kid, they managed to crash an Irish website yesterday.

The fans of the Mullingar boy crashed Irish website Pigsback.com, after he tweeted that he was hosting a charity event for  his 19th birthday and tickets were available for sale.

Fans clicked on the link through the star’s tweet and the surge of traffic on the website caused it to crash.

The website was down for about two hours before the team managed to get it on the pigsba-, eh-hem, up and running again.

Niall posted on Twitter; “Pls help me raise funds for Irish Autism & Team! Buy tickets for the event I am hosting in Mullingar on my birthday on Pigsback.com”

The Mullingar superstar has a massive 6.2 million followers on Twitter.

Pigsback.com boss Michael Dwyer said they were very happy to help out the celebrity with the ticket sales.

“We were very happy to help out Niall, Keith (Duffy) and the charities but in 12 years of business we have never witnessed such a surge in traffic.

“I suppose you could say we were rocked by One Direction!”

The young star will host two separate charity events in Mullingar on September 13th. Teams of four for the golf event will pay for €800 tickets and the price of the ticket for the evening event is €75.

Niall’s birthday bash features on the website’s homepage.

Despite leaving a crashed website in his wake, Niall said he was excited to be involved in the project; “I am delighted and honoured to be in the fortunate position to give back to my community.”

Meanwhile, the fan stayed tweeting about tonight’s MTV Video Music Awards. They spent yesterday rehearsing at the Staples Centre in LA. The boys are competing for two gongs; Best New Artist and Best Video With A Message.

Niall has spent the past week tweeting fans asking them to vote for One Direction. If they have as much enthusiasm for those tweets as they did for the others, we’re positive the boys will get it.
