Irish actor Chris O’Dowd is planning to tie the knot twice…to the same girl.
The comic ‘Bridesmaids’ star said he’s planning two weddings to his TV presenter girlfriend, Dawn Porter.
Roscommon native O’Dowd said he wants to celebrate their big day with both their UK and US friends. Hesaid the only way to do it is to say ‘I do’ twice.
The couple are due to marry in September and plans for both ceremonies are nearing the finishing touch stages. O’Dowd proposed to the dark-haired Porter last year and captured the moment she said ‘yes’ on Twitter.
O’Dowd and Porter are hosting an intimate ceremony in London for their family and close friends. This will be followed up with a flight Stateside where the newly-weds will say ‘I do’ again and celebrate their nuptials with their Yank couterparts.
A friend told The Irish Sun this morning Porter has her UK celebrity friends attending the London bash but wanted to celebrate LA-style too.
The pair are said to be excited for their favourite talent show star, Ruth Brown from ‘The Voice’, to perform at their wedding. Their UK wedding, that is.
The couple’s beloved dog, Potato, will act as ring-bearer at the UK ceremony.
Dawn told a newspaper earlier in the year she knew what Potato’s role in the wedding was going to be the minute O’Dowd proposed to her.
“We didn’t even discuss it! It was a given,” she said.
The vintage-clothes lover said the dress details are a secret but revealed what Potato will wear for the ceremony; “He will probably wear a bow tie and a little pouch bag for the ring,” Porter said.
O’Dowd has admitted to his fiancée organising all the plans for the two weddings.
“She just turned so quickly into wedding planner from fiancée, I can’t f***ing keep up!” he laughed.
Well now Chris, you’d want to start keeping up, Dawn will have time to try you out as husband material before she says ‘I do’ again…
