O’Dowd Says He Had “Clown Face” When He Was Younger

The Irish actor, who has had major success over the last year with Bridesmaids and other television projects, has revealed that he didn't always look as good as he does now.

Chris O’Dowd may well be a bit of alright now but the actor has admitted that he hasn’t always been blessed in the looks department.

In fact, he said that he used to look like the hunchback of Notre Dame. Well him, or a clown. Either way, it suggests he wasn’t exactly cute.

The Bridesmaids actor was talking about his new series Moone Boy which is roughly based on Chris’ life when he made the confession. The show centres around a boy called Martin Moone who is growing up in Ireland during the 80s and 90s.

Speaking about how much the character is based on himself, Chris said: “Martin’s a more charming witty version of me…. (I) felt a little like Quasimodo-ish because my face hadn’t really grown around my body. It was like a clown face.”

This is Quasimodo from The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

He added: “Sideshow Bob from The Simpsons was my look during my virgin years and I think the two things are connected.”

While it’s certainly not something we would be shouting from the rooftops ourselves, we can relate to the fact that we have also come a long way since our slightly embarrassing childhood years!
