Nicola Coughlan ‘beyond delighted’ to make her return to comedy for season 2 of Big Mood

Nicola Coughlan is heading back to her comedy roots, and we couldn’t be more excited

The Galway-born star is taking a break from Hollywood glamour to dive back into the world of Big Mood, and if you loved the first season then you’re in for a treat.

She’s reprising her role as Maggie, a 30-year-old writer navigating life with bipolar disorder, in the second season of the hit Channel 4 show.

Her on-screen bestie, Lydia West is coming back too, playing Eddie once again. But things aren’t exactly smooth sailing for the duo this time around.

The new season picks up a year after Maggie and Eddie last spoke, and tensions are high. Eddie returns home for a wedding, but she’s not alone – she’s got a new best friend, Whitney, in tow.

With her friendship on the line, Maggie decides to take matters into her own hands, leading to plenty of chaos, drama, and of course, laughs.

Nicola couldn’t be happier about coming back to the show, calling it “one of the greatest joys” of her life to film.

“Deeply grateful to everyone who loves our mad, funny, sad show,” she said.

“I’m beyond delighted that we get to come back and tell the next chapter of Maggie and Eddie’s story. Rats at the ready.”

With Nicola and Lydia leading the charge, Season 2 is shaping up to be another hit.

The first season pulled in Channel 4’s biggest comedy audience since Derry Girls, so expectations are high.

No release dates for Big Mood has been announced yet, but we’ll be counting down the days until they drop.
