Nick Grimshaw says the death of Peaches Geldof has changed his outlook on life, saying he wants to put his party days behind him.

The BBC Radio 1 DJ has opened up for the first time since the death of his close friend Peaches, telling The Telegraph:

“It has made me re-evaluate my life and what I am doing with it. It makes me stop and think. I have had a healthier lifestyle for quite a while now. I eat better food and drink less and I am trying to be fitter – and part of that is because I need to get up early and function.”

The Breakfast Show host added that despite looking to tone down his lifestyle, his career means he is obliged to attend some showbiz parties in his line of work:

“It’s my job to go to parties. I’m on air for hours every morning. I have to have something to talk about – that’s why I go out. I have hours to fill every morning and I can’t just go on about the colour of my socks or whatever.”

The star who was on route to a holiday for Coachella when he heard of Peaches’ death made the decision to cancel his plans and fly back to support her sister Pixie, who the DJ has known for years.

Grimshaw attended the funeral but refused to tweet about the death, out of respect for Peaches’ children and family left behind.

Peaches died suddenly aged 25 years old, in her home in Kent last month. An inquest in Kent confirmed that heroin was likely to have played a role in the death of the young mother.
