Microphone thrown by Cardi B sells for almost €100k

A piece of hip-hop history has been purchased for almost €100k.

Last month, videos emerged of Cardi B hurling her microphone at a member of the audience from the stage during a performance in Las Vegas.

This moment was spurred on in retaliation to the woman tossing their drink at the WAP singer.

While police confirmed the incident was reported as battery the following day, it was later announced that they dropped their criminal investigation and that no charges would be filed following a review of the case.

Now, however, the infamous microphone is back under the spotlight after being sold for a modest $99,900 (€90,885) on eBay following a bidding war.

The microphone was put up for auction by Scott Fisher, owner of The Wave Inc, a Las Vegas-based audio production company that supplied the sound equipment to Drai’s Beachclub on the day of the incident.

Fisher retrieved the microphone and put it up for auction on eBay, with the promise of splitting the proceeds between two charities – Friendship Circle Las Vegas, for teens and young adults with special needs, and the Wounded Warrior Project, for injured veterans.

In the eBay listing, he explained how they identified that this was indeed the microphone used by the Up singer.

“It was pretty easy to identify though as her mic was marked ‘main’. This is the mic that has been seen all over the country flying into the crowd after Cardi was splashed with some liquid,” he wrote.

Fisher then confirmed that the microphone is still in working condition after being thrown into the crowd.

Upwards of 120 bids were made before it sold for a grand total of $99,900.

The proceeds will be donated to Fisher’s chosen charities.

Talk about turning a negative into a positive!
