Mel Schilling was diagnosed with cancer this month

‘Married at First Sight’ star Mel Schilling has shared an update after undergoing cancer surgery.

Earlier this week, Mel revealed she was diagnosed with cancer, but has since undergone surgery to remove the tumour.

She told her followers that she had keyhole surgery to remove the tumour and it “couldn’t have gone any better”.

Thankfully, her cancer has not spread to her abdominal cavity.

Mel explained that this was her greatest fear, but the cancer was entirely localised in her colon.

The dating coach said they still need to map out a treatment plan for her, but the tumour is gone.

“I have been absolutely blown away by the countless messages of support I have received from all of you beautiful people, I am so very touched and can honestly say it’s made a difference, so thank you all.”

She also took the time to praise the NHS for taking such incredible care of her following the harrowing diagnosis.

“I also wanted to say that everyone in the UK should be incredibly proud of the people of the NHS. I’m not talking about the funding, the structure or the waiting lists, just the people.”

“Everyone from my consultant to the surgical team and especially the wonderful nurses managing my recovery have been just superb.”

Mel explained that they weren’t just incredible professionals, but it was their “endlessly sunny disposition” that made the difference.

“I owe all of these wonderful people my life and I will be forever indebted to them,” she wrote.

We couldn’t agree with Mel more. Healthcare staff are another type of human. They are the best of us.
