Meghan Markle received a very Meghan Markle gift while in Sussex yesterday

When on walkabout, the royal family are showered not only with affection but also with gifts. Sometimes it's just flowers and cards - and other times it's personalised pieces of feminist art. Meghan Markle and husband Prince Harry were in Sussex yesterday and visited Survivors’ Network, a charity in Brighton that supports survivors of sexual abuse. While there, Meghan was presented with a framed drawing of her rescue dog Guy. "We had a local artist do an intersectional feminist print of your dog," explained Jay Breslaw, the charity’s director.

In the image, the dog is asked "Who's a good boy?" He responds "A boy who makes every effort to dismantle the patriarchy (whilst keeping in mind intersections with other forms of oppression)." Meghan replied; “How lovely. Look at the little freckles on his face! "I love that! This is really special, thank you.” Long before she became a royal, Meghan was an avowed champion of women's rights. She was named as a United Nations women’s advocate for women’s participation and leadership in 2015. Addressing the UN that year, she said that she was "proud to be a woman and a feminist." She adopted Guy while she was living in Canada where she filmed her show Suits and brought him to the UK when she moved over last year.
