The publicist was up in court today.

Max Clifford has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

The publicist, who was found guilty of eight sex offences earlier this week, appeared at Southwark Crown Court today.

During the sentencing, the judge said: “I can’t ignore that for decades you were leading a double existence”. He added that some of the charges against Clifford would be considered rape under current legislation.

The publicist has refused to apologise to his victims. On his way into court this morning, he told Sky News: “I stand by everything I’ve said in the past – everything”.

It is believed that the 71-year-old’s business, Max Clifford Associates, will also close following the departure of a number of clients.

Earlier this week, a jury found Clifford guilty of eight counts of indecent assault against four women, aged between 15 and 19, over the course of an eight-year period starting back in 1977.
