Max Clifford has spoken out today about his arrest yesterday morning in relation to Operation Yewtree.

The PR guru, who was questioned on suspicion of sexual offences, told reporters outside his home that he is trying to get back to normal: “I’ll be working as I normally do – so trying to make things as normal as I possibly can under the circumstances.”

Max Clifford was arrested and questioned as part of Operation Yewtree.

He also spoke about the allegations he was questioned about: “All I can say is that they are totally without any foundation and they are totally untrue.”

Yesterday it was reported that Max Clifford had been arrested by police in relation to Operation Yewtree, the investigation sparked by the allegations made against Jimmy Savile and others in the media.

Clifford, who was released on bail late last night, insisted that he has “nothing to hide” and said that the ordeal has had an impact on himself and those closest to him.

The PR expert spoke about how it has affected both him and his family.

“It’s extremely distressing, not only for myself but also for my wife Joan and my daughter Louise, for friends and family.”

He added: “It’s a horrible thing to happen to anybody but I’m old enough and ugly enough to face it and sort it out, which is what I have got to do.”

Clifford was the sixth person to be questioned as part of the operation which looks at claims against Savile, claims against Savile and others, and claims against others.
