Actress Martine McCutcheon has opened up about the moment she was told that she would never be able to have children
The Love Actually actress is a mum to one son, nine-year-old Rafferty, but she was previously told she couldn’t have children.
She recently opened up about the heartbreaking moment on the The Showercast podcast.
The actress said she was overwhelmed with joy when she gave birth to her miracle baby.
“The thing that topped everything was holding my son for the first time,” she shared as she reflected on the day her baby boy was born.
“I was told I would never be able to have children, and I always felt like being a mother would be the making of me.”
“When I held him, there was no love like it… It made me realise that by just being who I was, I was always enough and lovable.
“I didn’t have to be all those things that I thought I had to be,” she admitted.
“I knew I would be able to teach him all the things I wish I’d known. When I held him there was no love like it, so unconditional.
On motherhood, Martine said: “It made me realise that by just being who I was, I was always enough and lovable. I didn’t have to be all those things that I thought I had to be.”
Martine shares her nine-year-old son with her ex-husband Jack McManus.
The couple announced their break-up in August. They ended their relationship after 18 years of marriage, but have agreed to co-parent their son.
