Maria Sharapova has been knocked out of Wimbledon today by Germany’s Sabine Lisicki.
The former world number one and top seed for this year’s tournament suffered a straight set defeat to the number fifteen seed.
Despite showing signs of making a comeback with her French Open win earlier this year, Sharapova was well beaten on Court One today.
The score was 6-4 6-3 and makes this year’s ladies draw even more exciting and unpredictable.
In other news Serena Williams won her match and will now face defending champion Petra Kvitova in the next round.
