The man who voiced Rafiki in The Lion King has sadly passed away

He lost his battle with prostate cancer.

He voiced one of our favourite characters.

Robert Guillaume has sadly passed away due to complications from prostate cancer.

The actor was most famous for his role in The Lion King, playing the ever-intelligent Rafiki.

Robert became one of the most prominent black actors on US television in the 1980s after working on a series called Benson.

The two-time Emmy award winner also thrived in Broadway musicals, having worked on numerous shows across the span of his career, including Guys and Dolls, Purlie and Golden Boy.

Robert died in his Los Angeles home, with his wife Donna Brown Guillaume by his side.

It is not known how long he had been dealing with cancer. He was 89 years old.
