Made In Chelsea’s Ollie Locke devastated as wedding venue refuses gay marriage

“We’ve obviously fought for so many years for all of this.”

It’s hard to believe that there are still places that won’t allow a gay wedding take place in their venue. Unfortunately, some places don’t acknowledge two people of the same sex as a couple – and unfortunately, these places are usually churches.

Most gay people won’t want to get married in a church anyway, but regardless, having the option taken away from you can still cause stress and upset – just as it did in a recent episode of Made In Chelsea.

Ollie Locke and his fiancé Gareth Locke made an appearance on the show recently and revealed that the place they had in mind for their dream wedding refused to marry them.

In a conversation with Sophie Hermann Gareth said: “We had this idea of getting married in this beautiful church. We found this beautiful church and we were going through the process of actually having a wedding there – how are we going to do it – and then we found out that basically we can’t actually get married there.”

Ollie continued: “They don’t do gay marriages. Obviously, I must admit that was the most upset I’d been for a long time.

“We’ve obviously fought for so many years for all of this, and we’re so delighted that it’s now a legal situation that we are allowed to get married and we wanted to celebrate that. For someone to literally turn around and say, ‘You can’t I’m afraid, we’ll give you a blessing’.”

The two will continue their search for the perfect wedding venue and no doubt, when they find it, it’ll be nothing short of fabulous.
