Louise Cooney opened up about being a first-time mum on the Mother podcast
Becoming a mum for the first time is an overwhelming but wonderful time in your life. It’s a milestone many of us dream of reaching and a dream many of us are living right now.
One person who knows the joy of motherhood all too well is influencer Louise Cooney.
She welcomed her son Jude into the world in November 2023 but recently opened up about the reality of being a first-time parent.
Speaking on Her’s Mother podcast, Louise said it’s essential to surround yourself with people who will support you through the good times and the bad.
She encouraged new mums to find their people and to lean on them when they need to because nobody should have to go through the ups and downs of motherhood alone.
She told Keelin Moncrieff, “The main thing is just to be kind to yourself and to know that you’ll figure it out. It’ll be fine.
“That’s what I would say to probably any of my pregnant friends,” she said.
Remind your friends that you’re always there for him
Louise said she would constantly remind her friends that she is there for them, even if they don’t directly reach out for help. Sometimes all you need is to know someone is there to help you if you ever need it.
“Reach out to your friends and your family and it will be fine. You will get through it no matter what it is.
I think having your support network of people who get it and maybe have been through similar things can advise you or even just be compassionate with you if you’re going through a hard time. I think that’s really important.”
She said pregnancy and parenting are incredible times in your life but they can also be pretty overwhelming.
“It’s an amazing journey, but it’s hard at times, it’s tiring and it’s life-changing.”
