Lostprophets’ lead singer Ian Watkins jail term appeal has been refused. Judges have thrown out an appeal by the rock star who was sentenced in December.
At the end of last year, the singer was jailed for 29 years with another six years on licence. The mother of a baby girl he abused was also jailed for 17 years. She too is seeking to reduce her sentence.
According to BBC News, the applications were heard by three appeal court judges in Cardiff.
Watkins (37) denied all of the charges against him after his arrest in 2012 but later admitted to a string of offences when the case went to court the following year. He admitted to the attempted rape and sexual assault of a child under 13 but pleaded not guilty to rape.
He also admitted conspiring to rape a child; three counts of sexual assault involving children; seven involving taking, making and possessing indecent images of children; and one of possessing an extreme pornographic image involving a sex act on an animal.
