We’ll be watching this on repeat.
Lorde covered Carly Rae Jepsen’s Run Away With Me this week – and it was absolutely haunting.
The New Zealand singer-songwriter performed with Jack Antonoff at the fourth annual Ally Coalition charity talent show earlier this week.
And while the original song, released in 2015, was more of a bubbly pop tune, Lorde and Antonoff performed it as a dramatic piano ballad.
The duo also played a number of other covers, including Roy Orbison’s You Got It, and a number of songs from Lorde’s latest album, Melodrama.
Many fans were quick to share the video on social media, heaping plenty of praise on the 21-year-old.
Among them was Carly Rae Jepsen herself, who said she was “blown away” by Lorde’s performance.
She wrote:
“Woah! Blown away by
@lorde and@jackantonoff who performed this magical cover of#runawaywithme@allycoalition fundraiser! My heart explodes!”

Lorde was quick to respond to the Canadian singer’s message of support, writing:
“Adore u presiding angel of pop.”

The duo also played a number of other covers, including Roy Orbison’s You Got It, and a number of songs from Lorde’s latest album, Melodrama.
Antonoff also led a tribute to Dolores O’Riordan, covering the Cranberries’ Dreams.
The charity event, organised by Antonoff, his fellow Fun. bandmates and his sister, Rachel Antonoff, raises funds for homeless LGBTQ youth and LGBTQ equality.
