Lewis Capaldi was in a relationship with Ellie MacDowall

The couple sadly parted ways because of conflicting schedules.

Sources close to the couple said their relationship simply ran its course.

They were also living in different cities, making things even harder for the pair.

As heartbreaking as it was, the break-up was a mutual decision and the pair hope to remain friends.

A source told The Sun: "Lewis and Ellie had some long conversations and decided it was best for them to end things. It was a mutual decision.

"They are still friends and have been talking, so all is not lost," they added.

"Ellie is still based in Edinburgh and Lewis lives in London so it’s been hard for them to see each other," the source explained.

"It’s sad but ultimately Lewis and Ellie had a wonderful time together. It just wasn’t to be," they added.

The couple made their first public appearance together at the BRITs after-party in February 2023.

However, they tried to keep their relationship out of the spotlight during their two years together.

Capaldi confirmed he was taking a career break in 2023 after struggling with Tourette's and anxiety.

He is set to return to the music scene in the coming months and is reportedly working on a new album.
