More than two years after their royal wedding, a slice of Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding cake has sold for £2,597 (€3101).
The piece of William and Kate's exquisite cake, which was created by Fiona Cairns, was snapped up by a royal fan at an auction in Beverly Hills, California.
In keeping with tradition, the top tier of the Duke and Duchess's wedding cake (a fruitcake) was presented at Prince George's christening on 23 October.

This isn't the first time an edible memento from a royal wedding has been sold.
In 2011 yet another piece of cake from the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's fruit cake went on sale. The slice came in a unique commemorative tin and included a compliment card from Prince Charles and Camilla.
The mementos extend beyond sweet treats too, a piece of toast served at Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding breakfast sold for £230 at an auction in July 2012.
