Laura Whitmore, 38, has landed her first movie role in an upcoming film called ‘A Mother for an Hour’.

Filming for the fourth feature of the Oscar and BAFTA-winning production company called Goldfinch and The Number 44 is said to have already begun in Newcastle.

According to The Sun, the Dublin-born TV personality will be starring alongside Tamar Hassan, whose daughter Belle appeared on Love Island, as well as Asia Argento (The Heart Is Deceitful Above All Things), Frances Barber (A Bird Flew In), and child actress Erin Ainsworth.

The plot for ‘A Mother for an Hour’, which is being directed by Giga Agladze, is set to centre around a woman who presents herself as the lost mother of a dying child and finds, through this act, a world of deceit and violence.

While this is the former Love Island host’s first big film, she isn’t new to the acting world.

Since stepping away from her role on the ITV reality dating show, Laura took to the stage in ‘2:22 A Ghost Story’ on the West End, and in 2019, she appeared in the short film Sadhbh.

The media personality has also been vocal about her aspirations to establish herself in the acting industry, having studied drama here in Ireland.

Speaking to Ray D’Arcy on RTE1, she explained that it’s something that she’s ‘always wanted to do’.

“I studied drama, and then I won an MTV competition, and then it all went a bit crazy.”

“I studied drama at Griffith College for a few years. I also have a degree in journalism as well. I kind of went back to drama on the sly in London a little bit. I’ve been waiting for the right thing.”
