Rebecca says: Private
I’ll admit she’s not the most forthcoming leading lady that ever lived but I honestly think that Kristen Stewart is one of those celebrities that doesn’t enjoy being in the media spotlight.
And it’s not like she’s the only one either! Keira Knightly and Daniel Craig are just two of the overtly-private stars who are known to dislike the attention of the press.
From the coffee they drink to the person they’re dating, everything is under scrutiny. It’s clear to see that this makes Stewart uncomfortable albeit more evident during television interviews. But it’s not that she doesn’t answer the questions asked, she just gives very little away.
I’d be the same if someone I didn’t know was asking me to spill all the details about my relationship. That sort of stuff is personal after all. How would you feel in her position? She simply answers the questions she is comfortable answering, as we all do in life.
Part of her (I’ll call it) charm, you can call it whatever you like, is that she also isn’t afraid to say what she thinks which can sometimes be interpreted as rudeness. Instead I think this is refreshing in Hollywood. So many young stars are all smiles all of the time, which don’t get me wrong is great as well, but Stewart says it like it is and is who she is even on a bad day.
I think people should give her a break especially considering the pressures that are on young women in Hollywood these days. The hateful comments aimed at her are simply out of line. What ever happened to girl power?
Amy says: Rude
Kristen Stewart: shy or just plain rude? Now, I understand that she was only a young one when her movie-star career kicked off – God knows that kind of attention at that age would be traumatic and overwhelming for even the most confident of us. And I understand that having the paparazzi getting all up in your grill just so they can get a shot is probably infuriating.
But what gets me about Kristen Stewart is the sheer lack of emotion and/or gratitude that she expresses. Watch an interview with any of her Twilight co-stars – they laugh, they have fun. Watch an interview with K-Stew? Sometimes she just couldn’t be bothered to answer the questions, let alone actually engage with the journalist.
Now, I know that journalists ask awkward questions – but rather than a steely silence or snapping: “I don’t want to talk about that!” why not be polite, laugh it off and get involved with the next topic of conversation instead? Why not appreciate the fact that billions of young girls out there would kill to be in your shoes and taking part in interview junkets?
It’s no surprise that K-Stew hates interviews, but unfortunately, they come with the territory of being an actress.
Dear K-Stew, you live a privileged life 99.9% of the time. Interviews, meet and greets and taking time to promote your movies are just a small part of that. You may as well get on with it and do it with a smile.
You’re worth millions of dollars. Cheer up, huh?
