Kristen Bell blasts Snow White for its ‘weird’ attitude towards consent

Kristen Bell has blasted Snow White for its "weird" attitude towards consent.

The Good Place actor said that whenever she reads the classic with her children, she's struck by how unwilling any of the characters are to question anything odd that happens in the story. She told parenting website, aptly named Parents, that her children often question the Prince's motives in the fairytale. She said that her kids, Delta and Lincoln, ask:

"Don’t you think that it’s weird that the prince kisses Snow White without her permission? Because you can not kiss someone if they’re sleeping!"

"Every time we close Snow White, I look at my girls and ask, 'Don’t you think it's weird that Snow White didn’t ask the old witch why she needed to eat the apple? Or where she got that apple?' "I say, 'I would never take food from a stranger, would you?' And my kids are like, 'No!' And I’m like, 'Okay, I’m doing something right.'"

One can only assume that taking food from strangers and kissing people while they're asleep was acceptable in nineteenth century Germany when the book was written. Neither of those things are, thankfully, acceptable in 2018.
