Kit Harington describes proposal to Rose Leslie in hilariously awkward way

Game of Thrones' Kit Harington told how he "blew his load early" when he proposed to his former co-star Rose Leslie. The couple, who have been dating since 2012, confirmed their engagement with a small announcement in The Times late last month. But it turns out the proposal didn't go quite as planned - at least, according to the Game of Thrones star. In scenes to be shown on Saturday night's Jonathan Ross Show, Kit recalls how he sort of ruined his proposal plans (with some very awkward phrasing). He said on the show:

"We did a little announcement in The Times… I did have some plans to do it. "I was going to string up some lights in some trees and do all the romantic stuff. "But we were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine and I blew my load early."

But the actor was quick to correct himself, laughing:

"Sorry that’s a really bad expression! "I was meant to do it the day after with the lights. What I meant to say was, I popped my question a bit early. Not blew my load."

The wedding between the pair - who played Jon Snow and his love, the Wildling Ygritte - will likely be attended by many of their fellow cast members. Which, Kit tells the show, could cause a bit of chaos for those filming the show's eighth season. He recalled how he jokingly told the producer in charge of scheduling it was "his fault" he was getting married. He added:

"I think for the final season he is so stressed that he’s reached that peaceful level. I was like, ‘You need to factor in a Game of Thrones wedding by the way.’ "They [the cast] have all got to be there so the whole thing has got to shut down. “We wont be getting married in costume. There is absolutely no chance of me convincing (fiancée) her of that.”

But it turns out the proposal almost didn't happen, as Kit joked about how the marriage could be off if he repeated one of his April Fools tricks which involved hiding a model of his head in the fridge. He explained:

“My family does April Fools. Her family doesn’t do April Fools. "She didn’t know the date and after that she was in tears. And I was there going, ‘April Fools!’ “It didn’t go down well... When my laughing died down, it took some making up... "She pretty much told me if I did it ever again that would be it. And I think that’s marriage included.”
