The fast fashion company will have to pay her nearly three million dollars.
Kim Kardashian has won a case against Missguided after she claimed the company was using her name to sell clothes.
The lawsuit states that the online store used her “persona and trademarks” to sell replicas of her outfits, and even went as far as tagging her on Instagram.
According to the BBC, Missguided didn’t respond to the original lawsuit, therefore in default, a California judge ordered the company to pay Kim $2.7 million (€2.5 million) in damages and $59,600 (€52,800) in attorney fees. It was also ordered to cease trading clothes in connection to Ms. Kardashian in “sale, marketing, or distribution of its products.”
The lawsuit stated: “Missguided’s use of Plaintiffs’ marks is likely to cause consumers to mistakenly believe that Plaintiffs are associated with Missguided, or that they sponsor or endorse Missguided and its websites.
“And in fact, consumers have already expressed such confusion, suggesting in social media posts and online articles that Plaintiffs must be in a ‘collaboration’ with Missguided.”
