Keith Duffy is extremely proud of his daughter Mia who started secondary school yesterday.

The former Boyzone star congratulated his daughter, who has autism, on how hard she has worked to get to where she is.

Keith tweeted: “I’m so proud of my little angel, against great odds she started in secondary school this morning.

“The raised bar is yet again reached,” he wrote.

Mia was diagnosed with autism when she was 18 months old.

The former Coronation Street actor and his wife Lisa have dedicated much of their time to raise awareness and funding for autism charities.

Mia underwent an applied behavioral analysis programme, which helped her integrate with mainstream school.

Keith will be taking part in Ironman Ireland in September to help raise funds for Irish Autism Ireland and cycled 640km in aid of the charity in June.

Earlier this month, the Dublin man revealed that he is tempted to move his family to the UK in order to secure more acting roles but said he could not interrupt Mia’s schooling at the moment.

According to The Irish Mirror Keith said: “I am tempted to move somewhere where I can work and go home to my own bed rather than having to go home to an empty flat and fly home every weekend.

“So we’ll see what happens but this is a big year for my daughter Mia.

“She’s starting secondary school in Dublin so it wouldn’t be fair to move her abroad now,” he said.
