The most sensible girl in amateur boxing, aka Ireland’s golden girl, was never going to move straight into a party pad the minute she had a gold medal around her neck but Katie Taylor has realised that it’s the right time for her to flee the nest and get a place of her own.
Speaking to The Independent, the Olympic gold medallist revealed that she’s house-hunting in her hometown of Bray, Co. Wicklow and is ready to leave the family home.
“I’d love to have my own place. I have been looking at houses over the last few weeks,” the 26-year-old said.
“It’ll be a big change not having dad there and my mum’s cooking though,” she added.
Katie thinks Roger is a bit of a dream boat…
Katie said she’d prefer not to live alone but that there is no special person in her life in the moment but that she’d love to settle down with a Roger Federer type – pity he’s already married! That would be love match made in sports heaven…
Katie will take on Bulgaria’s Denista Eliseeva at the Royal Theatre in Castlebar on March 24, two days after her meeting with Ukrainian champion Yulia Tsiplakova in Dublin.
