Katie Piper’s 10-year challenge is both devastating and completely inspiring

We've all seen countless versions of the "10-year challenge" that has been sweeping the Internet. It has been used as a chance for people to show how much they've changed in the last decade. And for the most part, the 2009 pictures have been a little cringe, followed by a glow up in 2019. However, the challenge has also been an opportunity for some people to show how far they've come. The lovely Katie Piper shared her own before and after pictures yesterday, and they really hit home. She wrote on Instagram: "#10yearchallenge. Don’t let this challenge create anxiety within you about ageing- it’s an absolute privilege. 1st pic me age 25 years in 2009 in my mums kitchen. 2nd Pic is me age 35 last week in my own kitchen 2019." The first image shows Katie less than one year after she was violently attacked with acid. She wears what appears to be a black ski mask,while drinking from a straw. A very poignant image. However, fast forward ten years, and Katie is in a much better place. Her 2019 snap shows her smiling proudly, looking absolutely gorgeous. Talk about perspective. The post on Instagram has received over 102,000 likes, with thousands of fans commenting. One wrote: "I have followed your journey from the beginning Katie and I have so much love and respect for you after what you went through and how you are living your life now with your wonderful family you are truly amazing." We couldn't agree more. Another fan of Katie's commented on the post, saying: "Now that’s putting things in perspective... you are an inspiration."
