Katherine Jenkins was forced to call the police when Twitter trolls threatened her life this weekend.
On Friday, the singer denied that she had an affair with footballer David Beckham and has been the victim of death threats from crazed fans of the Beckhams ever since.
According to The Sun, one threatened to stab her after she took to the social networking website to deny the rumours.
Katherine’s friend said she is very shaken by the threats.
“She was disgusted by the abuse because it was so sinister and scary.
“When she saw the messages she straight away wanted to protect herself by getting police involved.
David and Victoria were perplexed as to why Katherine felt the need to deny the rumours
“The threat to ‘cut’ her got to her the most. That guy crossed the line,” said the singer’s friend.
A spokesperson for Katherine said: “Due to the serious nature of the threats, the tweets have been reported to the police.”
It was reported yesterday that David and Victoria Beckham were surprised that Katherine felt the need to deny the rumours on Twitter, which they felt would only encourage further stories and rumours.
The Welsh singer refused to comment further as she returned to her London mansion after a recording session yesterday.
