Kate Middleton and Prince William originally had a different name planned for George

While we can’t imagine him with any other name, Prince George may have had a different name if plans had have gone ahead.

But if Kate had have gotten her way, we’d all be calling Prince George a much different name as she never had her heart set on it.

Like all new parents when expecting their first child, you spend hours upon hours ensuring you pick the best name possible – and even more hours trying to get you partner to agree on it.

When it comes to William and Kate, the parents had a list of potential names for their new arrival, no matter if he was a boy or a girl.

According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, Kate had her heart set on a very different name for her firstborn.

She told Vanity Fair magazine: “Courtiers insisted the pair had not found out the sex of their unborn baby, and friends close to the couple claim William wanted a surprise.”

While she always suspected she would be having a boy and “had set her heart on the name Alexander, they had not yet decided what to call their firstborn.”

William also apparently told Kate that they wanted to keep it a secret as there “are so few surprises in life”

While Prince Alexander has a nice ring to it, the couple ended up going with George after the Queen’s father, King George.

But if anyone remembers correctly, you’ll know that his full name is George Alexander Louis –  a clear nod to Kate’s original favourite name.
