Kate Middleton paid tribute to Princess Diana on the first night of the royal tour in Pakistan.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton and Prince William, have arrived in Pakistan to commence their four day royal tour of the country. A photo shared on the official Kensington Palace Instagram account showed the couple disembarking the plane where they were greeted with a red carpet reception. Kate wore a bespoke outfit made by Catherine Walker, a designer previously favoured by Princess Diana, with the full-length tunic top and trousers inspired by the traditional shalwar kameez. Many have drawn comparisons with a similar look Diana wore when visiting the country in 1996 and whether intentional or not, it is a fitting tribute to the People's Princess. The couple will travel around the country for the next few days before their visit comes to an end on Friday with a statement from Kensington Palace describing it as their "most complex tour yet" due to "logistical and security considerations". They will visit the capital Islamabad, the city of Lahore, the mountainous countryside to the north of the country, and the border regions to the west. An excerpt from a statement released in advance of the tour reads:

"The visit will span over 1000 km, and will take in Pakistan’s rich culture, its diverse communities, and its beautiful landscapes. Throughout the tour, Their Royal Highnesses will visit programmes which empower young people, and organisations that help ensure they have the best possible start in life. Access to quality education, particularly to girls and young women is one of the UK’s top priorities in Pakistan".
