Kate and William got engaged 8 years ago this week, and this is exactly how it happened

It's hard to believe that Kate Middleton and Prince William got engaged 8 years ago! It seems like just yesterday we were ogling that sapphire ring, while glued to their interview. Kate and William didn't formally announce their engagement until 16 November 2010. However, Wills popped the question a few weeks before that, during a trip to Kenya in October of that year. A picture has been revealed, of a guestbook which the couple signed from a hotel in Kenya. They had signed the book at Rutundu Cabin at the foot of Mount Kenya around that time, which suggests that it may be the magical location of their engagement. We can't cope. In their first interview as an engaged couple, William admitted that he had been planning to pop the question for quite some time. However, he was waiting for the perfect (and most romantic) opportunity to do so. And while the pair had previously discussed marriage, apparently Kate was still shocked when William got down on one knee. So sweet. Also, in an amazing throwback, the couple also spoke of there hopes for a family (which is so fun, now that they have three gorge kiddos). "It's very important to me and I hope we'll be able to have a happy family ourselves," Kate said during their interview. "Obviously we want a family, so we'll have to start thinking about that," William added. Happy anniversary guys!
