Jeff Beck fans were taken aback when they were met with a surprise appearance from Johnny Depp in Sheffield on Sunday, barely 48 hours after he was in court for the final day of his defamation case against Amber Heard.

The 58-year-old actor and musician popped up on stage alongside the Yardbirds guitarist and English rock legend during his gig at Sheffield City Hall, going on to perform a version of John Lennon’s ‘Isolation’, with Depp taking lead vocals.

The pair have actually been performing the song together for a few years and went on to do a number of other covers, including Marvin Gaye’s ‘What’s Going On’ and ‘Little Wing’ by Jimi Hendrix.

Depp began his career as a musician in 2012 by forming, Hollywood Vampires, which features rock legends such as Alice Cooper, Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Matt Sorum (Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver), and a number of other rotating members and session players.

Cooper previously defended Depp following his initial libel case against The Sun in the UK, calling him “the most harmless human being I’ve ever met” and it would seem his relationship with Beck is just as strong.

In fact, according to a Deadline report, this might not be the only UK audience Depp will appear before, as it is thought the Pirates of the Caribbean star could also join Beck for his next two tour dates, the Royal Albert Hall in London on Monday on Tuesday.

The defamation case against 36-year-old Heard concluded on Friday and the jury is set to resume deliberations on Tuesday – a final verdict should be impending shortly after.
