What was put into Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s ‘ironclad’ prenup?

Joe Jonas and Sophie began dating in 2016 before tying the knot in 2019.

This week, Joe Jonas officially filed for divorce from Sophie Turner following reports that their marriage had broken down in the last six months.

In papers obtained by NBC News, Jonas said their marriage is “irretrievably broken.”

The couple married in 2019 and, in the weeks prior signed an “ironclad prenuptial agreement,” according to The Blast.

The Jonas Brothers frontman and the Game of Thrones star will likely have a straightforward divorce from a financial standpoint, as the prenup outlines that each will keep royalties and residuals from their respective careers.

Jonas will keep all of his royalties from his music with his brothers, as well as anything created or earned with DNCE, Joe’s other band.

Turner will keep her Game of Thrones earnings along with any residuals from her acting career.

The pair also put a plan in place in the event of their divorce that any property acquired before the marriage would stay in the owner’s name.

While they shared homes in Miami, the UK, and Los Angeles, whoever owned the properties before they tied the knot will keep them.

The only property that will be split between the two stars will be the marital home.

Both Jonas and Turner will keep the rights to their image and likeness and the businesses associated with their celebrity status.

The second-eldest Jonas brother and the Dark Phoenix actress share two daughters together: Willa, 3, and a daughter listed as D.J. in court documents, 1.

In California, pre-negotiating custody over children or future children cannot be facilitated; therefore, a judge will decide who gets custody and where the children will reside.

The amount of child support will be determined by their monthly salaries and who is making more money.

That can also be renegotiated if one party begins to make more money in the future.

Jonas allegedly wants a judge to outline a parenting plan between him and Turner that will allow for ‘frequent and continuing contact with both parties.’

The See No More musician is currently on tour with the Jonas Brothers, while Turner has been spending time in the UK this year filming for an upcoming ITV drama based on British jewel thief Joan Hannington.
