Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner ended their marriage in 2023
Joe Jonas has opened up about finding love following his divorce from English actress Sophie Turner.
The couple first met in 2016 and went on to marry and welcome two daughters together. However, their love story took a turn in 2023 when Jonas ended their marriage.
The pair confirmed the shocking news in a joint statement online:
“After four wonderful years of marriage, we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage. There are many speculative narratives as to why, but truly this is a united decision.”
Turner claimed she learned about their divorce through the media and said the end of their marriage was very sudden.
Jonas said finding love following a divorce can feel intimidating.
He told TalkShopLive that he was afraid to fall in love again following his divorce from Sophie Turner.
The Leave Before You Love Me singer explained, “I was seeing somebody at the time, and I was kind of having this idea of dating again. It was really scary and intimidating.”
“Love takes different shapes and forms, and I was rediscovering what that was.”
Jonas explained that the person he was dating helped him view love differently when they said, “Well, it’s only love.”
“Like, it was not a big deal, but it was a big deal to me, and a big deal to them, too. But it’s OK to take a leap of faith and just try again and put yourself out there.”
Following the breakdown of their marriage, Jonas and Turner faced a messy custody battle, which saw the actress sue him over access to their daughters’ passports.
She wanted them to join her in England and claimed the singer withheld their passports so they couldn’t travel to the UK.
They eventually settled on “an amicable co-parenting setup.”
The pair are reportedly on good terms now, with Turner recently praising the singer following the release of his new album Music For People Who Believe In Love.
