“A year ago today I was told my baby no longer had a heartbeat.”
Pop star Jessie J has paid tribute to the baby she lost, as she marks one year since her miscarriage.
The singer learnt that there was no heartbeat when she attended her third scan last year. At the time, she hadn’t told fans that she was pregnant.
In an Instagram story, Jessie reflected on the tough year, and the lessons she has learned along the way.
She wrote: “A year ago today I was told my baby no longer had a heartbeat.
“Although I can tell the story now without crying, have and still am discovering all the positives that experience gave me.”
She went on to say that the loss has given her strength, wisdom, empathy and gratitude, and reflected on all the other people who experience pregnancy loss.
“It still hurts and all day I have just been thinking about all the women and men and families who have been through this numerous times and how incredibly strong they are.”
Jessie continued: “Grief is such a weird and personal journey. Time helps but it never truly fades.
“Sending love and strength to anyone’s heart that has or is experiencing this right now.”
She finished up with a message to the baby she lost.
“And to my little angel,” she penned. “I feel you everywhere. Especially today.”
After experiencing the loss, Jessie J spoke about why she feels it’s important to share her story.
Earlier this year, she wrote: “No one talks about it enough. What we talk about isn’t what really happens. I am grateful I was raised by two incredible people who taught me to find the blessing in the pain. I am grateful for the perspective I have. Every day we just have to live and live harder.”
