Actress Jennifer Aniston is marking her 56th birthday today and we're looking back on the many times she has inspired women.
Aniston has often been vocal about the pressure placed on women to have the 'perfect' life.
We should have a stable relationship, children, and a flawless home, as well as a successful career, but most women know that isn't a reality.
Aniston may be a famous actress, but that doesn't mean she escapes the societal pressures we know all too well.
She has often spoken publically about how she doesn't have children, but that doesn't make her any less of a woman.
In an essay for Huffington Post, Aniston shut down the expectations placed on her and other women.
"[Women] are complete with or without a mate, with or without a child. We get to decide for ourselves what is beautiful when it comes to our bodies.
"We don’t need to be married or mothers to be complete. We get to determine our own ‘happily ever after’ for ourselves.”Yes, she’s rich. Yes, she’s famous. Yes, she’s talented. Yes, she’s thin. Thin enough so that every burrito becomes a baby bump shortly after swallowing."
Women don't owe it to anyone to live a certain way or follow a specific path because society thinks it is the right one.
As Jennifer Aniston perfectly put it, women are so much more than the milestones they do or don't reach.
You're just as important if you're a mum or child-free and that's something many of us need to remember.
It can feel near impossible to ignore those pressures and expectations but reminding yourself of Aniston's advice will help.

I wish more celebrities had the same attitude toward cosmetic work as Billie Eilish
Can more celebrities have the same attitude as Billie Eilish? It feels like getting cosmetic work is as common as getting your haircut, and we’re growing more and more concerned about how normalised it has become. It feels like something we should all get done now, and that expectation is only being enhanced by Hollywood. […]
